ORDERING A SAIL STEP-BY-STEP

HOW TO ORDER :

1. SELECT the sail type (e.g. mainsail, headsail, spi). When more than one sail is being ordered, each sail must be ordered with its individual measuring sheet. CLICK on „Measuring Sheets“. CHOOSE the appropriate PDF file for the sail type (e.g. Full Batten Mainsail - PDF). PRINT the pages in A4 format. (Please note that it can take a few minutes to download and print these measurement sheets).

2. TAKE the printed Measuring Sheet on board and FILL IN the required fields. (We have designed the Measuring Sheets so that they are easy to follow and make the measuring process as simple and as logical as possible. However, should you be unsure about any individual measurement, then you can always send us an e-mail or contact your nearest ISS representative). It is IMPORTANT to use a metal measuring tape for the longer measurements (e.g. luff length). We do not recommend that you just take the measurements from your old sail. However, it is advisable to check the measurements taken on board with the measurements of the old sail (measured stretched out). In addition, should you wish to have a new sail with the same dimensions as the old sail, then you should also send us the dimensions of your old sail. (include details under “Notes” at the end of the Measuring Sheet). The ISS representative in your area can help you should you have any questions and, if necessary, may be able to help, at a standard cost, with measuring on board.

3. With the completed Measuring Sheet, go to our website www.InterSailSupply.com CLICK on ORDER

SELECT the measuring sheet for the sail type which you measured on board.

An IDENTICAL ONLINE Measuring Sheet will appear on your screen.

FILL IN THE FIELDS with the measurements taken, using your completed measuring sheet from the boat.

FILL IN YOUR ADRESS AND CONTACT DETAILS at the end of the form.

CLICK on “Send by e-mail” at the bottom of the page and your sail measurement details will automatically be sent to us.

4. When we have RECEIVED your measurement sheet we will go through the individual details and CHECK that they are logical with regard to type of yacht, sail dimensions, etc. (Should we have any questions regarding the measurement information sent, we would contact you and check details).

PAYMENT :

1. We will then SEND YOU an ORDER CONFIRMATION and INVOICE e-mail for your sail, which clearly shows all the sail measurements supplied by you and the name and address given for delivery, type of delivery*, the final price and approximate date for delivery.

* Type of delivery :

a) NORMAL IMPORT when your boat is in your home country (in which import duties, VAT and freight costs are included in the price) and a first payment of 60% is required and the remaining 40% is required when you pick up your sail from your nearest ISS.

OR

b) YACHT IN TRANSIT when your boat is abroad – although for members of EU countries, this means the whole of the EU area and thus “Yacht in Transit” delivery would not be possible for you within the EU - (in which the duty-free and tax-free price is given plus freight cost to the destination requested) and a 100% full payment is required. The sail will be delivered directly to the yacht. The date of delivery can be arranged to ensure that the owner/skipper is on board. (Local charges in destination location, e.g. local transport and / or agents fees, are the responsibility of the yacht owner).

2. As soon as we have received your payment we will inform you by e-mail and when the payment has been cleared by our bank we will go ahead with the production of the sail.

SHIPMENT AND DELIVERY :

1. The sail will normally be completed within 2 –3 weeks and sent by airfreight (usually with DHL), and according to Type of Delivery, to : a) NORMAL IMPORT delivery to your nearest ISS representative (incl. freight insurance), or b) YACHT IN TRANSIT delivery to the yacht at the address given (incl. freight insurance).

2. Once the sail has been shipped from the sail loft we, or your local ISS representative, will send you an e-mail informing you that the sail is en route.

3. All sails delivered as NORMAL IMPORT will be sent to the nearest ISS representative. The rest payment (40%) due must be paid to the ISS representative when the sail is picked up and will be invoiced accordingly.

GUARANTEE :

The sailmaker gives a two year guarantee for material and workmanship, but not for chafing damage or sail form changes after usage. The battens and fittings are not included under this guarantee and would be the responsibility of the manufacturer.

EXTRA NOTE :

Should a case arise where a sail does not fit because a mistake in measurement was made, we offer the possibility to advertise this sail for sale on our website in the section „New sails for special prices“

Please understand that we can take no responsibility for any mistakes made in taking measurements. As we use a system by which the measurement details are checked 3 times, this has not occurred to date.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE "PDF" MEASUREMENT SHEETS ARE IN A FORMAT ESPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR DOWNLOADING AND PRINTING AND MAY TAKE SOME MINUTES TO DOWNLOAD, DEPENDING ON THE SPEED OF YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION. 
(The other measurement sheets are the same but are in a format for displaying in internet and open more quickly than the PDF pages.)
